Rootdown and Cole Ranch winemaker Mike Lucia says he is always playing with the question “What if?” Rootdown wines are varietal expressions of what derives from the soil in specific vineyard sites: native-yeast fermented, lower-alcohol, sulfur only in amounts that are natural on the vine. Working in small quantities, sometimes on lesser-known varieties, the wines are exquisite companions to food. Mike’s blended Es Okay wines follow the same practices, with everyday-affordable wines that are a joy to drink.
