Behind the label
Best Case Wines serves as a link between the people who grow & make these authentic wines and YOU, the people who enjoy them. Here is a little something about who WE are.
Robert Morey
Founder & Owner
After more than 15 years in wine retail, Robert started Best Case Wines in 2011. Something of a luddite, Robert sees wine as an antidote, or at least a counterbalance, to a too-fast, too-fraught, too-teched world. Wine cannot be enjoyed in a hurry, and it is most fully enjoyed with good food among good company. Robert’s other interests include cooking & eating food, reading, spending time with family, and trying to improve his French.
Andrew McLaughlin
Deputy
Andrew first became interested in wine while working for a gourmet grocery during his university years. After graduating, his passion for food, wine, and their intersection transformed to a career path. Against the common misperception that good wines have to be expensive, Andrew seeks wines that interested people can both love and afford. “Wine doesn’t have to be complicated,” he says. “It’s a perfect companion to a meal, or a pleasure on its own, or an encapsulation of a faraway region’s history & culture.” Andrew’s other interests include trying new foods, learning about world history & culture, and spending time with family, friends, and dog, Murphy.
Kelsey Seay
Sales Associate
After work in both restaurants and retail, Kelsey fell in love with wine and the culture surrounding it. It combines a number of her passions in a neat little bundle, including history, creating, culture, and food. She loves to help people discover new favorites and to show off hidden gems, proving that there are great bottles in every price point. She is also living proof that one can love both wine and beer equally, as she is also the Associate Director of the Iowa Brewers Guild. In her spare time, she runs a literary-themed jewelry business on Etsy, crochets, reads, takes lots of photographs, and enjoys time spent with her husband, cat, and recently acquired chicken.
